Sixth in a series-Off the Beaten Path
San Simeon, Ca.-Made famous in part by Citizen Kane, William Randolph Hearst’s castle is located a bit off the beaten path, even though it’s near a major highway. Hearst’s father bought the land with money from a gold strike, and young William grew up on his enormous ranch. Once he became a newspaper publisher, he built this spectacular and opulent home where he entertained many movie stars of the day. This image is a false infrared interpretation of one of the many marble statues on the property.
